Several years ago, BlackBerry added the Glympse feature to their messaging (BBM). It's important to note that although the Glympse feature is a part of BBM, the feature is inactive unless you explicitly choose to use it. In fact, a core tenet of Glympse is that users are always in control of when their location is being shared with anyone. This means that unless you specifically choose to share a Glympse with someone, the feature is essentially disabled (i.e. your location is neither collected nor shared with anyone). In addition, each Glympse has an auto-destruct feature so that when the timer on the Glympse expires, your location is no longer visible to anyone.
Steps to send a Glympse in BBM:
You can choose to share a Glympse with a contact by selecting the 'G' logo on the bottom left of the screen from within the feed of messages to them.
Once you have opened Glympse, you then can change parameters and select to either request or send a Glympse.
More info on the feature is available at: BBM 2.0 – 3 things you may not know about location sharing powered by Glympse.
